Oil Change 101
When you change your oil, remember to clean the gasket surface on the engine block. Also moisten the gasket on the new filter with motor oil for proper installation. Fill the filter with oil if vertically mounted - this will improve lubrication when you start your engine.
Items you'll need to perform an oil change:
- 4 to 5 litres of oil and oil filter
- Car jack and stands, or
driveway ramp
- A creeper, to roll under car
- Oil-filter wrench, socket wrench
- Drain pan to catch oil
- Oil drain pan gasket
- Hand cleaner - it's a dirty job!
